Choosing Mesutronic was an easy decision for Holz Schiller: “Since Mesutronic is a regional company located just around the corner from us, it quickly became clear that we would handle the project directly with Mesutronic,” explains plant manager Michael Segl. This proximity enabled a straightforward and efficient collaboration.
The performance of the METRON 05 CO has fully convinced Holz Schiller. “Initial challenges with the spray unit during metal detection were resolved, thanks in part to the support from Mesutronic. Otherwise, the metal detector performs its job absolutely reliably,” says Michael Segl. Mesutronic’s flexibility also became evident in meeting subsequent special requests, such as adjusting sensitivity settings for different types of wood with switching capability from the control station—solutions that were implemented quickly and smoothly.
A key advantage of the METRON 05 CO is its reliable detection of even small metal objects in roundwood. “Every day, one or two logs are certainly rejected before further processing,” reports the plant manager. This not only protects the sawmill’s machinery but also prevents damage in downstream lumber processing and for end customers.
The satisfaction with Mesutronic even led to further investments: “Following the project at the roundwood station, we opted for another Mesutronic product. For our pellet line, we also acquired two QUICKTRON 05 A metal separators.” These protect the pellet press from damage and downtime.
This decision underscores the trust placed in Mesutronic’s technology and service. Looking ahead, Michael Segl summarizes: “At present, we are well equipped, but we know that in the future, we have a competent partner for metal detection right here in our district.”
