The focus of metal detectors and x-ray systems when examining convenience products such as frozen vegetables or ready meals is on outgoing goods control. Foreign objects made of metals, glass or stones must be reliably removed, and other quality defects must be reduced as far as possible. This ranges from a piece of stainless steel wire in a tubular bag to an underfilling in the compartment of a ready meal.
Foreign body detection systems are an indispensable means of meeting stringent quality guidelines such as IFS, BRC, TESCO and others. In goods receipt and production, they reduce costs and increase process reliability; for example, by preventing the introduction of foreign substances through raw materials, or by protecting moulding and filling machines.
